▪ Physical properties: The solid form is a white to slightly yellow powder that is readily soluble in water; the liquid form is a slightly yellow to yellow, viscous, transparent liquid. At temperatures around 200°C, it exhibits excellent thermal stability and does not react with acids or bases.

▪ Chemical formula and CNS number: The molecular formula is (C 6 H 10 O 5) n (n is the degree of polymerization); CNS number: 20.022
